Still here

Leo and Monty are watching the birds and the last of the autumn leaves fluttering in the garden.
They have settled down into their own routine now and found their favourite places in the house to watch for wildlife, chase each other, sit and sleep.

Leo is here helping me make cupcakes for a friends wedding.

They are both really friendly and will have a long purr but still don't want to sit on our laps, sometimes if we're good they'll sit next to us on the sofa!

I am so out of touch with what's going on here with my friends in blog land, I'm so sorry that I have missed so much of your news. The weeks and months have rushed by in a bit of a haze, today is the first day I've felt a glimmer of light at the end of the never-ending tunnel that is clearing my mum's house.
We worked really hard on the garden and have turned it from worse than this (this was after clearing the derelict summerhouse and rubbish out of the way)

To this - taken in the summer, which I'm really pleased with.

There are still many months to go and it's all really emotionally draining and hard work, I only got to the end of the rubbish inside about a month ago and now have got to sort 2000+ books, china, furniture etc. I've got a book man coming to see me next week, someone a friend of my mum's knows and I'm so excited to think we may be able to make some more progress - the books seem to be multiplying infront of my eyes and it will be such a relief to get rid of some.

But for the first time it feels like it might be possible to do it, in the last few months I've just sunk under the weight of the task and it felt overwhelming, I've just ended up withdrawing from everything to try and get through it all.

Felting has sadly had to stop and I've only done one craft fair this year and have hardly been able to make anything, although I did manage some cobweb felt for me which I'll try and post about separately. I'm hoping the new year will bring a few chances to be creative again.
Leo and Monty thankfully don't steal felt like lovely Archie did, they steal hair elastics and shiny gift ribbon instead, but Leo has proved he is very good at helping laying out fibres evenly and pressing them into place.

  1. How absolutely wonderful to hear from you! I was trolling thru my blog roll last week and wondered how you were doing. What an enormous task for you--sorting out your Mum's house and estate; no wonder you haven't had time or energy for anything else! I'm glad you can see a glimmer of light finally.
Your "boys" have grown into fine young Mancats, I'm happy to hear that they are so helpful, hee hee. Purrs from the gang at the Lounge!

  3. Oh, ditto! It's wonderful to see a post from you, I also have been thinking of you of late, several times actually. The "boys" seem to have settled in well and I'm so glad you see a tiny glimmer of light now. Be kind to your Self, please. The garden looks fabulous and bit by bit the rest will come together. Here's hoping for a far, far better 2012.

Lots of hugs and universal Light from me.

  4. Miło oglądać koty, tym bardziej, że tak ich mi brak. Tak jak Ty w ciągu dwóch lat musiałam się rozstać z dwoma.
    Pozdrawiam.

  6. Felted House!! Welcome back!!! Big big huge and more hugs from me and Charlie!! Awww it's really lovely to see you back - you and adorable Monty and Leo! They've grown!! Good grief! They're gorgeous and proving to be most helpful and truly invoking the spirit of sweet angel Archie!

As for clearing your mum's house - if it's anything like the transformation of her garden - I think you are just doing brilliantly. My goodness - the before and after pic of the garden is amazing. I cannot believe it's the same garden. You have done wonders and I know you will do wonders to the rest of the house too. I have everything crossed for you - all bendable bits! - that this year will be the final stretch where you truly achieve closure with this mammoth task. I hope next year will truly be the New Year for you. Take care and welcome back again!! Yay! x

  8. I was looking on my RSS feed and thinking I hadn't heard from you in a while. Glad to hear you haven't been squished under a toppling mound of books! The Garden looks amazing, how fantastic will it feel when you finally get to that stage with the rest of the house too, and cathartic too I should imagine. The cats are looking lovely and handsome and shiny too, I'm glad they have settled in well. Mia & Lila love their ball chasing track too, it's a definite favourite!! xxx

  9. It's been a weird several months for many of us when I look around.... so...not to worry. You will feel so much better when it is all cleared and tidied and you can enjoy life with nothing hanging over your head waiting to be finished.
The garden looks amazing .... keep plugging along...it will all be over soon and you can get back to some felting fun. It's great to have some entertainment in the form of the new little guys.... I'm sure they will get to be more" lovey" as time goes on...

  11. A BIG welcome back. So glad you feel there is a light at the end of the tunnel at long last. Your "boys" are beautiful - and obviously great helpers too! My Dylan steals hair elastics, and runs off and hides them - I won't tell you how many I found under the fridge once! I love the picture of them together on the window sill. Love and purrs

  12. Hi, do take a look at my blog, my Willow looks exactly like one of yours.
I read on another blog that yours keep losing ping pong balls, we use screwed up paper balls, called pape papes in our house (you will guess by this that we are completely mad) and often clear out under the beds, wardrobe, sofas etc load of them. lol
